Puffy vs Mr.West

After I saw this guy in NYC at the APT club, getting into his Phantom and telling my girlfriend “what up baby”, I lost completely any respect for him. Puffy Combs aka ex-Notorius entourage aka internet blogger now.

Jeff Staple posted about this and posted it under a “Poor Puffy” title entry. Jeff covers the fact Puffy has gone from Hype Williams type videoclips, to ads in mags, to this type of video to promote his next song.

I think the song is good (lyrics suck), production is great, but Mr Puffy is just trying to do same thing as we have seen with Kanye West with his Love Lockdown, creating a huge fan response (West is remastering the song after the fans dropped comments on his blog). Although into the same genre (hiphop), Puffy might not succeed as he is still in the 90’s esque type of hiphop, just not focusing on crossing the barriers between lyrics (use of a more complex methapors and straight to the face themes mixup), as Mr West is doing. And the distorted voice effect, thats so Lil Wayne is getting old already
